Center Church Welcomes You!

Nestled in the peaceful Litchfield Hills, Center Church opens wide its doors, its hands and its heart in extravagant welcome to the public.

Torrington is alive and well and the downtown area is bustling with artists of all types. The rejuvenated Warner Theatre, Nutmeg Ballet Company, and Artwell all find their home within walking distance from the church, bringing an excitement to the downtown area.

The excitement continues once you step through the church's blue doors as the church is clearly alive with soaring faith, beautiful music, amazing architecture, and a congregation of the warmest and most caring people in town.

The church's history is rich with peril and perseverance. It has rebuilt after disaster, has supported people in time of loss, has been a beacon of hope in the community, has encouraged newcomers as they have turned to the church for deepened faith-inspired living. Join in our fellowship. Discover what many have - new found friendships and a special relationship with God in Jesus Christ.

Ministries for the Entire Family

Our faith continues to grow outside of our worship service. Our church is bustling with activities to build fellowship and show our love to the Lord. We do this through music, youth programs and programs to enhance our spiritual growth.

  • Music is an important part of Center Congregational Church. Our music ministry features adult and children choirs, handbell choirs for adults and children, a contemporary praise band and special ensembles.
  • Youth Programs and Church School are a neccesary and fundemental part of our church's future and we take the spiritual education of our children very seriously. However, as serious as their education is, there is no reason why it can't be fun! Come learn about our program and all the fun and learning we have to offer.
  • Spritual Growth opportunities abound at Center Church. Learn about our many opportunities to join together and serve the Lord through Small Group Ministries, Bible Studies, seasonal seminars, spiritual retreats, Visitation Ministry and prayer groups.
  • Ministry to the Wider Community is an important part of tangibly expressing the love of Christ beyond the walls of the church as we engage in ministry projects in the community and beyond.

A big thank you to all those who contribute the redemable cans those who redeem the cans. Please remember to separate the plastic bottles from the glass bottles. This is a requirement from the redemption center.

Center Church Welcomes Rev. David Buchan

The Interim Minister Search Committee is delighted to announce the appointment of Rev. David Buchan as the new Interim Pastor of Center Congregational Church. His assignment began on August 24. David and his wife Patty currently reside in Brookfield, Connecticut. David comes with many years of pastoral knowledge and experience. The bulk of his career has been serving as Minister in many churches including Connecticut, Ohio, Maine, and even Zimbabwe, Africa. At a time when most people find themselves kicking back and relaxing, David has found his new calling. He chose to continue his ministry as an interim pastor, and has already succesfully served as an interim in three dynamic churches in Connecticut. David's personal qualities demonstrate why he is such a successful minister. His kind demeanor sense of humor, and deep understanding of human nature show him to be a care-giver. IN addition his willingness to take on challenges and help churches find their identity qualify him also as a change agent. David is excited to take on the leadership of Center Church and to celebrate the many traditions and joys in our vibrant church life. We look forward to worshiping with Reverend Bechan, and welcome him joyfully into our church family.
